Top 5 Huge SUVs

An alternative to the recently revived Ford Expedition.

It's time to put aside the jokes about people who drive very large cars and to recognize the obvious: large SUVs stand out in the traffic and attract attention, so this is why we want to call them “real cars”. And if you don't really like the new Ford Expedition, there are at least five other options to choose from.

Lincoln Navigator L

If you don't like the Expedition, you can always turn to its premium counterpart, the Lincoln brand. The flagship Navigator L is already old enough, but it has recently undergone a planned restyling. By default, the model comes with rear-wheel drive, but you can order AWD, as an option.

There is only one engine available: a 3.5-liter biturbo V6 (384 hp and 624 Nm). There is also no choice of gearboxes (only a 6-speed automatic one). The RWD Navigator can pull a trailer weighing up to 4 tons. It will soon be transferred to a new aluminum platform like that of the Ford Expedition.

Toyota Sequoia

The giant Sequoia is about to retire, but it will certainly be on sale by the end of this year. At least, this is evidenced by the TRD Sport version presented at the Chicago Auto Show. It should arrive at dealerships in September 2020.

The Sequoia is equipped with a 5.7-liter V8 VVT-i (386 hp and 544 Nm), a 6-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive (even the flagship Platinum and Limited). In the US, the Sequoia is almost half the price of the Land Cruiser 200.

Nissan Armada (Patrol)

This list should also include the co-platform Infiniti QX80, but the premium brand will cost more. The Patrol can be equipped with a hydraulic system for limiting body rolls, but the Armada does not have this option. The Patrol also has a sports version from Nismo.

All three SUVs are equipped with a 5.6-liter V8 (405 hp and 560 Nm) and a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual switching. In case of overcoming (relatively serious) off-road conditions, the Armada and QX80 have an electronic lock on the rear differential, and the Patrol also has a hard lock on the “center”.

GMC Yukon XL

You know it as the Chevrolet Suburban or Cadillac Escalade ESV. The length and width of the three SUVs in the extended body are 5.7 meters and 2 meters, respectively.

As befits a large American SUV, there is is a massive 6.2-liter V8. Its 409 hp and 602 Nm will be enough to accelerate the car from 0- 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km/h. The transmission is 6-speed automatic.

Dartz Prombron

If you need light armor in addition to size, you should contact Dartz Motors, which produces eccentric SUVs that combine luxury and militarism. Only a few hundred thousand dollars — and you are the owner of a 3-ton vehicle, which (according to the company) can accelerate up to 300 km/h.

A 6-liter engine provides the SUV with 560 hp and 650 Nm. This is enough to accelerate the car to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. At the same time, the mixed fuel consumption (again, according to the manufacturer) is about 11.7 L / 100 km. The interior is finished with leather, Alcantara, carbon wood… even diamonds and gold, if the customer wants.
