How to Start a Car with a Dead Battery

Today, we will tell you how to start the engine safely and get to the nearest service, if your car's battery runs out.

This requires only a second car with a working battery and connecting wires. It would seem that everything is simple, but in fact there is a certain order that you need to follow because it is possible to damage electronics in your car and not start a fire. Wires must be thick and of high quality.

Open the hood of a serviceable car and find a battery. Position both cars so that you do not end up between them if one of them accidentally starts moving. The two cars must be turned off and all electronic devices must be switched off. So, first connect a wire from the positive terminal of the serviceable car to the positive terminal of the dead battery.

Then connect a wire from the negative terminal of the serviceable battery to the cylinder block or other suitable element of the faulty car. The wires must be connected separately to avoid short circuits. Make sure that they do not touch any moving parts under the hood, such as belts or fans.

After that, jump-start the serviceable car. Wait until the engine speed drops to idle, and then leave it running for about 5 minutes, so that the generator will charge the dead battery. Then, turn off the engine and, without disconnecting the wires, start your car. Then disconnect the wires in reverse order. Done!
