A Motorcycle-based Pulse Autocycle Is Available for Purchase

Oddly enough, this is not a craft but a production model that was released in a small series in the 1980s.

This is a car, this is a plane, this is a motorcycle, this has a permit to drive on public roads and it can be yours. The unusual transport is now for sale on eBay.

Pulse Autocycle Pulse Autocycle

Designed by aicraft engineer Jim Bede, the car was first called as the Litestar Autocycle, but the name was changed to Pulse Autocycle after Bede was sold to the Owosso Motor Car Company. The latter produced such vehicles from 1984 to 1990 and managed to build several hundred of such cars. According to the seller, there were 350 vehicles. This copy was released in 1987 and has almost 60.000 km on the odometer.

The rocket-shaped body is made of fiberglass, it hides a motorcycle engine. Yamaha 400cc and Honda 450cc engines were used in the original models. The Autocycle has four wheels, but only three are used at a time, as the outrigger wheels don't both touch the ground at the same time just like riding a kid’s bicycle. This allowed the Pulse Autocycle to be registered as an ordinary motorcycle. The interior is two-seat and designed as an aircraft cabin. The cramped cockpit is equipped with a stereo system and air conditioning. All that stuff is estimated at $39.900, which is down a few thousand from the previous ask. The auction ends in two days.
