2020 North American Car

The iconic Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is titled the 2020 North American Car.

The 2020 North American Car of the Year has been held in Detroit, where the North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year awards have been announced. The winners are the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the Kia Telluride and the Jeep Gladiator, respectively.

It is worth noting that the eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette was presented at a special event in California in July 2019. The new model differs from all previous generations in a mid-engine layout. Its 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 produces 495 hp and 637 Nm. This engine comes only with an 8-speed DCT.

During its 67-year history, the Corvette has become a cult model of the brand and has won a huge number of fans around the world. The latest ‘best car’ award is the third one for the Corvette. Before that, only the fifth and seventh generations of the model received this title in 1998 and 2014, respectively. This year's award was given to Corvette Chief Designer Tadge Juechter.

The North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) awards have been announced since 1994. Today, its jury consists of 50 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. This year, Chevrolet has managed to beat such serious competitors as the Hyundai Sonata and the Toyota Supra.

The revolutionary mid-engined Corvette will be assembled at General Motors' Bowling Green factory in Kentucky. The first customers will receive their cars in early March.
