Audi Presents First RS Electric Vehicle

An upgraded prototype of the Audi e-tron GT RS was brought to Spa.

Audi has revealed the first RS electric vehicle. The pre-production e-tron GT RS looks little different from the concept; its specifications are still kept secret. The prototype was given a photo session next to Audi R8 LMS cars before taking part in the 24 Hours of Spa.

A production version of the Audi e-tron GT will be revealed very soon, as its production will start at the Neckarsulm factory (Germany) before the end of the year. It is known that the e-tron GT will share the PC platform with the Porsche Cayman, and the top version of the model will be the first electric car of the RS family of the Audi Sport division.

It is confirmed that the Audi e-tron GT RS will be all-wheel drive and will develop over 700 hp. Insiders claim that Audi will not follow Porsche’s path and will prepare original three-engine powertrains for high-performance electric vehicles, like that of the e-tron S. A 95-kWh traction battery will provide the RS with a 400-km drive range (WLTP).

Since the assembly of the e-tron GT is organized next to the R8, the photos from the Belgian track are symbolic because the EV is surrounded by R8 LMS racing cars.

Rolf Michl, Audi Sport's Sales & Marketing Director, calls the upgraded e-tron GT prototype the next icon in the RS family. It can be assumed that the e-tron and e-tron Sportback families will receive top-end RS versions after the release of the electric sedan.
