BMW M4 to Loose Giant ‘Kidneys’

BMW’s compatriots have decided to correct the design of the M4.

Germany-based Prior Design has decided to correct the design of the BMW M4, ridding the sports car of the most criticized element – a giant radiator grille.

The M4 looks closer to the BMW M8 or M5, which are equipped with relatively compact radiator grilles, in some renderings. The raised grille made room for larger air intakes. In addition, the coupe is noticeably understated with a more aggressive front bumper and splitter.

To date, the studio has prepared only sketches, but Prior Design reports that they have already found potential buyers for the redesigned M4.

BMW's huge radiator grille, which debuted on the iNEXT in 2018, has been sharply criticized by both fans of the brand and the automotive community, including designers. Despite the controversial reaction of the audience, BMW’s designers said that they were not going to abandon the “kidneys” and would continue to use them for new models.

The M4 debuted at the same time as the M3 in late September. The models are designed in a similar way and equipped with a 3.0-liter biturbo V6, which produces 480 hp and 550 Nm (the standard version), or 510 hp and 650 Nm (the Competition version).
