After a couple of teasers showing the interior of the high-performance C4-V and CT5-V models, Cadillac has finally showed magnesium BlackWing wheels: this is the first official image of the exterior of the car from the future Blackwing line-up. It shows a wheel with thin spokes made of magnesium. The manufacturer claims that forged magnesium wheels will be exclusive to the Blackwing family — only CT4-V and CT5-V will be equipped with them and this option will not be available for passenger models.

Magnesium wheels are lighter than aluminum ones, which significantly reduces unsprung mass and the moment of inertia — this is important for braking distance, acceleration dynamics and handling in general. Magnesium features the highest strength-to-weight ratio of all metals, which is why magnesium wheels are used in World Endurance Championship, Formula One and MotoGP. Both the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing are due to be released in the summer of 2021.
