Carbon Fiber Armor and Body: World's Coolest G-Class

The Mercedes-AMG G63 has received the “invisible armor” package.

The Mercedes G-class, due to its brutality and angularity, stands apart in the SUV segment and has been popular with consumers for many years. Therefore, it is not surprising that many tuning studios like to reshape these formidable models. Germany-based Mansory is among those studios.

The studio is so subdued by the formidable SUV that it decided to try out the technology of “invisible armor” on it. Before that, Mansory was not engaged in such projects and the armored Mercedes-AMG G63 became their first-born. The car was protected according to the VPAM 7 standard and now it can withstand fire from a Kalashnikov rifle from a distance of 10 meters. A version with a lighter VPAM4 protection is also available, which can protect against small-caliber fire.

In addition to the armor, the G63 has received a modified hood, wide body kit, redesigned bumper, aggressive overhangs, carbon plated body elements and blue-red diode lights behind the radiator grille. The interior of the model is trimmed in white and brown leather and looks incredibly luxurious. The equipment remained the same, only the company logos were replaced.

Of course, Mansory has modified a powertrain of the SUV in order to compensate for the weight of the armor. Two versions of the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine are available to order at once. The first unit’s power output is increased to 700 hp and 950 Nm, and the second engine’s – to 800 hp and 1050 Nm. Road performance figures are still kept secret.
