Chery Is Preparing a Rival to the Toyota RAV4

The new flagship model of the Chinese brand - the Qoros 7- will be released on the market by the end of this year. The SUV will be available with two different turbo engines.

Qoros is the former Chery Quantum Automotive Corporation. The company was founded in 2007 by Chery and Kenon. Kenon is owned by Israel Corporation. The new brand was supposed to be a breakthrough in the market and it was for awhile. In 2013, the Qoros 3 became the first Chinese car to receive five stars from Euro NCAP.

The best year for Qoros was 2016. This year, the brand managed to sell 24.000 cars. There was even an attempt to enter the European market. But the only European country that the Chinese managed to reach was Slovakia. Only 51 foor-door Qoros 3s were sold there.

At the end of 2017, the controlling interest in the company was in the hands of the Chinese coglomerate Baoneng Group. The next year’s sales exceeded 63.000. But, according to Chinese media, most of these cars were bought by the new owner for their subsidiaries. According to focus2move, Qoros managed to sell only 22.695 vehicles last year. It is assumed that Baoneng bought some of them.
