Citroen Presents the New E-Dispatch

The new Citroen e-Dispatch electric van will be available with two battery pack options, four comfort packages, and in three sizes.

Citroen presents the E-Dispatch van. Following the C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid and Ami, the new product continues the brand's electrification philosophy – electrification for all. So, the company promises to present six electric models by 2021. Moreover, all commercial vehicles of the brand will have all-electric variants by the next year.

As for the e-Dispatch, it will appear in showrooms of British dealers in the second half of 2020. The electric Relay will be released by the end of the year. Moreover, the electric Berlingo Van is expected to debut next year.

The E-Dispatch should continue the success of its predecessor with an ICE, which was released in 2016. Since then, the company has sold more than 145,000 units of the van built on the EMP2. The main feature of this platform is the placement of battery packs directly to the running gear, which does not affect the internal volume of the cargo compartment.

Customers will be able to choose between 50-kWh and 75-kWh batteries, 18 and 27 separate modules, and 228-km and 328-km drive ranges (WLTP).

The van will be offered in three sizes, including the most compact – the 4.6-meter XS vehicle with a cargo compartment volume of 5.1 cubic meters. The most spacious is the 5.3-meter XL variant, which has a compartment of up to 6.6 cubic meters. This volume was made possible by the use of folding Moduwork seats, which increase the length of the cargo compartment by 1.16 m.

The load capacity of the van reaches 1275 kg, which is the best indicator in the segment among electric rivals. The distance between the wheel arches is 125 cm, which makes it possible to transport EUR-pallets. It is important that the overall height of the E-Dispatch is only 190 cm, which allows you to easily use underground parking garages and shopping center parking lots.

What concerns the van’s powertrain, it consists of a 100-kW electric motor with a maximum torque of 260 Nm. A top speed is 130 km/h. The driver can choose one of three driving modes: Eco, Normal and Power. When the ‘Eco’ mode is used, it optimizes energy consumption by reducing the output of the heating and air-conditioning without shutting them off completely and by limiting motor torque and power. The powertrain and batteries are guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 km.

There are three ways to charge the van: from an ordinary home socket, via a 32A and 7.2-kW Wallbox (a full recharge time is 8 or 11 hours), and through a 100-kW super-fast charging station (50-kW batteries recharge up to 80% in 30 minutes, 75-kW batteries — in 45 minutes).

The Citroen E-Dispatch is available in four trim levels to choose from. Let's start with ‘Worker’, which is intended for the construction segment. Next comes the more comfortable ‘X', which already includes a RD6 MP3 Bluetooth Radio set, electric and heated side-view mirrors. The ‘Enterprise’ package features a rear parking sensor, air conditioning, a car alarm, light and rain sensors, a 7-inch touchscreen display with Apple Car Play/Android Auto, as well as folding Modowork seats.

Finally, the ‘Driver’ package is the top-end one. It has all the same features as the ‘Enterprise’ version plus a front parking sensor, Blind Spot Assist, a 180-degree rear-view camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a Citroen Connect Navigation system with voice control. In addition, it also includes the LDW Pack (Lane-Departure Warning, driver attention alert, intelligent beam headlights, enhanced speed limit recognition).
