Electric Vehicles Instead of Autogas: Volkswagen Has Made a Decision

Volkswagen models with autogas systems are in less and less demand, so the company decided to replace such cars with electric vehicles.

EVs are becoming more popular in Europe. Therefore, all manufacturers, who do not produce such models yet, dream of entering this market. At the same time, demand in cars with autogas systems is rapidly declining, what drew Volkswagen’s attention. Do you already know where this is going?

The New VW ID.3 inspired the German automaker to create an entire line of EVs based on the new MEB platform. Moreover, when the new Euro-7 requirements come into force, production of vehicles with autogas systems will most likely not meet them.

That is why there will no longer be new cars running on compressed natural gas under the Audi, Skoda, SEAT and Volkswagen brands, unless the current models will continue to be sold with such installations. But the production will stop in a few years.

Perhaps, this will affect cars with liquefied natural gas, because demand for cars with autogas systems is generally falling, if we talk about Europe. In addition, the company is interested in developing EVs, so the course for the coming years is obvious.
