English Way to Restore Cars: 1969 Dodge Charger R/T Has Never Looked so Good Before

The 1969 Dodge Charger does not just belong to the class of cars from the 1970s, it is their symbol. This car was very popular in the era of its mass production.

Its popularity barely had time to subside a little by the beginning of the 2000s, as the first part of the legendary film series “Fast and Furious” appeared on blue screens around the world. Not yet oversaturated with scenes from the Indian cinematography, the picture literally made the whole world fall in love with the cars that took part in it. The same fate befell the Dodge Charger, which looked so awesome in the film that the 40-year-old model mopped the floor with all possible modern cars.

The final scene of the film, when a black muscle car went off from a traffic light on the rear wheels, created a lot of hype and controversy around the 7.2-liter 440 V8 Magnum and 7.0-liter 426 V8 Hemi. Fans of «Fast and Furious» tried really hard to prove to skeptics that these demons really have enough strength to tremble at idle and “get angry” at the start. As later confirmed by the car owners, the old Charger at 375-415 hp really gets on the rear wheels when starting “with two pedals”.

What is it all about? The fact is that one of the UK tuning studios undertook to restore one of the survived Chargers to factory condition. However, given that the British guys really know a lot about cars, their choice fell on the modification of the R/T 440 Magnum. The engine of this car was completely overhauled by Classic Investments. They equipped the car with what it just sorely missed all its life cycle – a 4-chamber Holley 770 Street Avenger carburetor. The rumble of an old refrigerator-sized engine was complemented by a stainless-steel exhaust with MagnaFlow silencers. The mechanics also worked on a 3-speed automatic transmission and restored the driveshaft.

British experts completely made the classic Dodge spotless: they removed all rust and upgraded the suspension, adding adjustable Koni shock absorbers and polyurethane bushings. The car received 11-inch wheels for both axles and a brake system with a new torque motor.

The interior uses the same principle – either everything is restored, or completely updated. The car received good sound insulation for greater comfort, and the seats were restored using high-quality leather from Italy. The steering wheel and the new center console are finished in natural wenge wood. The door panels are hand-made from leather.

Unfortunately, we do not have information about prices, but the cost of such a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T clearly ends up at a large number of zeros.
