Ferrari’s SUV to Receive Three V Engines

Ferrari’s Chief Technology Officer has shared information about the upcoming Purosangue SUV.

The Ferrari Purosangue will be the company’s first SUV with V6, V8 and V12 engines. The model will be based on the platform used in the recently released Roma GT with a front engine arrangement. This was announced by Ferrari’s Chief Technology Officer Michael Leiters.

According to him, this platform allows assembling models with a front and rear engine arrangement. Details of the future SUV are still being discussed.

The front of the body will be similar to the Roma GT but with a simpler grille design. From the back, the new car will resemble the four-seat GTC4 Lusso with a wide rear passenger door and a spacious luggage compartment.

The Ferrari Purosangue is expected to receive a hybrid powertrain with a plug-in module, like the SF-90. According to Leiters, the car’s engine range will include V6, V8 or V12 engines of its own design. However, there are no plans to electrify a 6.5-liter V12 engine, because this will make the SUV too large and heavy due to a battery pack.

The premiere is scheduled for 2021. Other details will likely appear earlier.
