General Motors Introduces Its Own ‘Autopilot’ and Announces Future Plans

The semi-automatic control system is called Super Cruise. It will be available for the brand’s 22 models by 2023.

Super Cruise is currently only available for the Cadillac CT6. This year, the model list will be expanded, including the new Cadillac CT4, the Cadillac CT5, and the Cadillac Escalade. The designations of the new Cadillac models will be replaced with real names. Besides, the company promises to release its first electric vehicle built on a new platform.

Although we know that General Motors will introduce an electric pickup truck under the revived Hummer brand on May 20, the first electric vehicle on GM's new electric platform will be a Cadillac SUV. The brand’s Representatives promise to name electric models by words, and leave the CT4 or CT5 designations for cars with internal combustion engines. General Motors’ roadmap includes 10 EV models. In general, GM-Cadillac should have more electric vehicles than ICE cars until the end of the decade.

Also, an important place in the plans of the American automaker is occupied by the distribution of a proprietary semi-automatic control system (adaptive cruise control with advanced functionality), also known as Super Cruise, for the entire model range. Three models of the brand will receive Super Cruise this year, including the new Escalade. Seven more cars will be equipped with it next year, and two more vehicles ─ before the end of 2022.
