2020 Geneva International Motor Show: Dates and New Cars (Updated)

The 2020 Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) is only a few days away, which means that it is time to shed light on the new vehicles that will be presented there.

The GIMS has been held almost every year since 1905. During its long history, the expo was canceled only during wartime. Now, in 2020, the motor show will be held on March 5-15. According to tradition, it will be visited by a large number of car manufacturers with a huge number of new vehicles.

We will not torment you with waiting. Let’s go straight to the list of cars that will definitely be presented at the exhibition this year:

Volkswagen

Volkswagen is bringing its upgraded variants of the Golf 8, which has recently gone into mass production, to the exhibition in Switzerland. The flagman GTI version is equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol TSI engine. The GTD, its diesel counterpart, has received a 2.0-liter TDI. Both cars are front-wheel drive only. The GTI TCR will also be introduced there, as well as the new Golf R. The new Volkswagen Caddy, updated Tiguan and upgraded Tiguan R will mix this company up. Besides, the most powerful Touareg ever will arrive in Switzerland too.

Mercedes Benz

Mercedes-Benz is going to present the updated E-Class based on the W213 body. The car has been repeatedly seen in photos, but all the updated elements were hidden under dense camouflage wrap. Along with the passenger versions, the Mercedes-AMG E63 and the hybrid E-Class will also visit Geneva, and we will again see the crazy Vision AVTR concept. But that's not all. Mercedes also planes to present AMG variants for its two SUVs: the GLA and GLE Coupe. The Mercedes-AMG GT 73 with an 805-hp engine also joins in.

Bugatti

Bugatti is preparing to present its 250th Chiron at the GIMS, as this car symbolizes the equator of the model's production. It is worth noting that the total circulation of the vehicle is only 500 copies. The car that will be brought to Geneva is an ‘Edition Noire Sportive’ variant.

Bentley

One of the most premium brands of the Volkswagen Auto Group is preparing to roll out the most luxurious version of the Bentley Continental GT Convertible modified by Mulliner. The distinctive features of the model include a diamond-shaped radiator grille, which is divided into 4 sections and framed by a chrome strip. The same accents can be seen on side air intakes of the car. The vehicle is standard shod in 22-inch wheels. Customers can choose between 64 color shades. However, this is not all. If desired, buyers can contact Bentley’s designers to make an exclusive color for their future car.

But Mulliner's modification is more about an upgraded interior, and everything is just amazing here. The diamond quilted upholstery of the seats and door panels are reminiscent of the radiator grille style. The company uses a contrasting line that emphasizes the premium interior. Customers can choose between eight individual three-color combinations. How much this modification will cost is not yet announced. However, given that the standard Continental GT Convertible costs $236,000, the price tag of Mulliner’s version will be insane.

In addition, the company intends to present to the public the updated Bentley Bentayga and the mysterious Mullinar Bacalar GT Concept.

Toyota

Toyota has worked hard on its line-up over the past few months, and it really has something to show. So, five new cars will be presented at the expo at once, three of which are passenger cars and two are SUVs. It is worth noting that the new B-SUV will be slightly larger than the C-HR and will become much more functional due to a flatter roof. It will get a 1.5-liter petrol engine. It is followed by the Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid. It makes no sense to focus on it, because it is clear from the name that this hybrid SUV can now be connected to the power grid.

Together with a pair of SUVs, the second generation of the hydrogen fuel Toyota Mirai will make its debut. We have already described its specifications in detail. There will also be the new Toyota Yaris and the upgraded Supra with a 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine.

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo has intrigued its fans with a cool teaser for the GIMS. The video lasts only 6 seconds. In it, the company's logo appears from a black background, under which the inscription “A momentary comeback” appears. Below, there is the start date of the exhibition, and all this is accompanied by the bass engine roar.

In general, the manufacturer has something to show us in Switzerland. First, we have been waiting for the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA for a long time, and secondly, we know that the company is working hard on the Tonale SUV. We have not been able to find out what exactly the Italian company is going to reveal.

The motor range of the model is simply gorgeous. It starts with a 1.4-liter 245-hp hybrid TSI engine. The same power output is produced by a standard 2.0-liter TSI unit. But the more powerful versions also based on the 2.0-liter turbo V4 show much more interesting figures. The FWD cars reach 300 hp, and the AWD station wagon gives out 310 hp at all.

As for the second car, it is the Formentor SUV. The pre-production car is equipped with the same 1.4-liter 245-hp hybrid unit, but it is possible that it will be available with more powerful engines.
