Here's What Renault’s New Low-Cost Crossover to Be Like

The new model has received green turn signals and 19-inch wheels.

Renault India has presented the Kiger concept, which is as close as possible to the future production model with the same name. This is a low-cost compact crossover with a bold design aimed primarily at a young audience.

The length of the French concept does not exceed 4 m. The Kiger looks like a full-fledged crossover: a 210-mm ground clearance, 19-inch wheels, massive protective pads and wide roof rails. The concept features an unusual forked spoiler on the tailgate (and this element will also be used for the production version) and green turn signals.

The body of the show car is painted in Aurora Borealis, which changes color depending on the viewing angle.

The new model is based on the CMF-A+ platform, as that of the Nissan Magnite. The Kiger also has the same engine range: it includes a 1.0-liter 72-hp naturally aspirated engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a 95-hp turbo V3 combined with both a manual transmission and a CVT. There is front-wheel drive only.

It is expected that the price of the Kiger will be comparable to that of the Magnite, which costs about 530,000 rupees in India.

It will not take long to wait for the production Renault Kiger, designed and developed specifically for the Indian market: the new model will be presented in 2021. Production of the model will be established in India. The possible appearance of the crossover outside the country has not yet been reported.
