The Old Hyundai Getz Is Turned Into a Copy of the Toyota Yaris Rally Car

It is certainly far from a real nimble Yaris but the fake looks convincing enough.

Some video bloggers made a mock onboard video from the Toyota GR Yaris WRC rally car, having used an old Hyundai Getz for this purpose.

The Korean pint-sized Hyundai Getz and Toyota Yaris have little in common besides the hatchback form factor. But it took quite a bit of «garage magic» and ingenuity to turn the Getz into a nimble Yaris.

Extended wheel arches, a body kit, a massive spoiler on the trunk, an additional lighting unit (dummy), new headlights (stickers) and the traditional Toyota WRC team livery changed the Getz so that it is now very difficult to recognize the “Korean” in it. There are also inscriptions with the names of the crew members, Sebastian Ogier and Julien Ingrassia, on the vehicle glasses. The bloggers went further and even added the sound of a rally car engine. However, only in the video.

As for the real rally Yaris, the Gazoo Racing specialists have already prepared a car based on the new generation of the model in order to participate in races of the new WRC season. The official presentation of the GR Yaris is scheduled for January 11, 2020.
