Hyundai Shows a Super-Budget Sedan

The recipe of the new car is simple: take a new hatchback i10, attach a "trunk backpack" to it and get a new Aura.

Technically, the sedan is not built on the base of the European Hyundai i10 but represents a new configuration of the Grand i10 Nios for Asian markets.

At the same time, the body modifications were carried out more deeply than it seems at first glance. In fact, it looks completely new starting from the middle racks to the rear bumper. The wheelbase size of the Aura remained exactly the same as that of the “donor” model – that is, 2.450 mm with a total length of 3.995 mm.

The Aura engines are also mostly the same as that of the Nios. The new car is equipped with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine with a power output of 83 hp (from the European five-doorer) and a 1.2-liter diesel engine with a power output of 75 hp. However, the Aura will also be fitted with a 1-liter petrol turbocharged engine that produces 100 hp. There are two configurations with manual or automatic transmission. Images of the interior have not yet been published but it will most likely be identical to the “donor’s”.

Sales will start first in India, where production of the Aura will begin in the first quarter of 2020. It is possible that the Hyundai Aura will appear in other countries later.
