Hyundai Reveals Updated i30 N

The restyled hatchback will be released in a version with a semi-automatic gearbox.

Hyundai published the first images of the restyled i30 N. The hot hatchback will be redesigned as the passenger version: it will get new headlights and taillights, as well as bumpers with enlarged air intakes. But the main innovation is an eight-speed DCT, which is not yet available for any Hyundai model in Europe.

From the front, the updated Hyundai i30 N is similar to the regular i30 N Line. There are the same L-shaped inserts on the edges of the bumper, mesh-covered air intakes and new headlights with RDLs in the form of a stacked letter V. There are no less changes in the rear end: redesigned taillights, a different diffuser and larger exhaust pipes. Forged 19-inch wheels are the same as that of the 2021 i30 Fastback N Performance: they are 14 kg lighter than standard ones.

Nothing is known about engines yet, but Hyundai has shared some information about transmissions. The hot hatch will finally have a version with two pedals: such cars rely on an eight-speed DCT, like that of the Veloster N. The gearbox features original software and several new functions.

So, N Grin Shift (NGS) increases boost pressure by 20 seconds, N Power Shift (NPS) selects an optimal time to switch to upper gear, and N Track Sense Shift (NTS) automatically changes switching timings to track ones if it recognizes an appropriate driving style.

The current Hyundai i30 N is equipped with a 2-liter turbo engine with a power output of 250 hp or 275 hp, depending on the version. The unit is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The N accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. A top speed is 250 km/h.
