Hyundai Shows Renderings of the New i20

The hatchback in the new Sonata style will be brought to the first viewing in Geneva.

The third-generation Hyundai i20 will make its global debut at the Geneva International Motor Show (March 5-15). First European sales will start in the summer. The manufacturer promises to show an unprecedented emotional design language, also known as Sensuous Sportiness.

Sensuous Sportiness is expressed in harmony between four fundamental elements: proportions, architecture, styling and technology. All this should “bring beauty to the Hyundai model, which will be perceived at the level of instincts.”

Speaking in mundane language, the i20 will be wider and lower than its predecessor. It will have air vents on bumpers, as well as a spoiler with small fins on a tailgate. Besides, a lot of arrow-like elements are defined in the body silhouette, such as a chrome-molded window line.

Hyundai's teaser campaign is only about design, leaving out the technical aspects. The manufacturer does not show the interior of the new i20, but it only mentions that an infotainment and a dashboard (each with a diagonal of 10.25 inches) are integrated into one.

According to rumors, the Hyundai i20 will receive base 1.0-liter three-cylinder engines: a 100-hp naturally aspirated MPI and a 120-hp turbo T-GDI.
