Now electric buses will be produced under this brand together with China.

After a 15-year break, the well-known Hungarian bus brand Ikarus appeared again at the Busworld Europe expo in Brussels. At the end of last year, the Hungarian-Chinese joint venture IKARUS-CRRC presented its first model, the City Pioneer.

Electrobus Europe Ltd is a joint venture of Ikarus and the Chinese manufacturer CRRC. Bodies and chassis are made in Hungary, but electric components are supplied from China.

The company's only model is the Ikarus-CRRC 1311 U City Pioneer. This is a 12-meter low-floor electric bus. It is designed to carry 79 passengers, but there are only 28 seats. The body consists of a stainless steel frame. It has a guaranteed service life of 16 years. This is twice as much as the batteries of this electric bus can work.

Chinese CATL batteries with a capacity of 313 amp-hr are charged in 5-6 hours from a 60 kW station or in just 2-3 hours from a 150-kW station. The batteries power a t-Drive MD2021 permanent magnet synchronous motor, which normally produces 165kW; its maximum power is 240 kW. The maximum torque is 3200 Nm. The power drive is enough for a drive of 200-260 km.

The manufacturers promise that the electric bus will be 15-20% cheaper than its competitors, but the exact price is unknown.
