2020 New York International Auto Show to Not Take Place in Spring

The New York International Auto Show will run from August 28 to September 6.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused a lot of problems to car manufacturers. In addition to the fact that a number of factories in China were phased out and car sales were significantly reduced, the virus has also reached international exhibitions.

Earlier, the Geneva International Motor Show was canceled, and the Beijing Motor Show was postponed indefinitely. Now, the association of automobile dealers announced the shift of the New York International Auto Show, which was supposed to take place from April 10 to 19. This decision was made by the organizers to protect visitors and participants of the exhibition from the coronavirus, which is actively spreading around the world.

As a result, the New York International Auto Show will open its doors on August 28 and last until September 6. The exhibition will be held for the press a few days earlier. Of course, such a long delay will affect the format of the event. It is unlikely that it will be as big and important as before. After all, Audi, BMW and Mercedes have already said that they intend to skip it this year. It is possible that other car manufacturers will join them because of the current situation.

It is not clear what will happen to the new cars that were supposed to be presented at this auto show. Probably, manufacturers will follow in the footsteps of the Geneva International Motor Show and arrange online presentations. As for the announcement of the winners of the “World Car of the Year" award, it will most likely also be held online.

It is worth noting that, according to the latest data, 647 cases of the coronavirus infection were recorded in the United States, and 31 cases were recorded directly in New York. The leader in the number of infected is the state of Oregon, where 162 cases were detected.
