Jeep Has Shared Details about the Future Competitor to the Cadillac Escalade ESV

The automaker is preparing an extended version of the Grand Wagoneer.

Jeep has confirmed that in addition to the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer, it is planned to release extended versions of both models, Motor Trend reports. So, competitors of the long-wheelbase Wagoneer will be the Chevrolet Suburban, the Ford Expedition Max, and the GMC Yukon XL. The «long» Grand Wagoneer will compete with the Cadillac Escalade ESV, the Lincoln Navigator L, and the Range Rover.

In early September, Jeep introduced the Grand Wagoneer concept, which was close to the production model. It is expected that prices for the junior SUV of the family will start from about $60,000, and the cost of the luxury Grand Wagoneer will be comparable to that of the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator.

Accordingly, the extended version of the Grand Wagoneer, the appearance of which has already been confirmed, will compete with the long-wheelbase Cadillac Escalade ESV and the Lincoln Navigator L: in the United States, both models can be purchased for about $77,000-$78,000.

Thus, the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer family will feature at least four modifications. It was also previously revealed that buyers will be to choose between three all-wheel drive systems, an extensive range of engines and electrified versions, including a plug-in hybrid.

Production of the mass-produced Grand Wagoneer will be set up at the factory in Detroit. The new model will be released in the summer of 2021, simultaneously with the Wagoneer.
