The Geneva Motor Show: Kia Motors Demonstrates Its Achievements in the Field of Electric Cars

Kia Motors’ Imagine electric concept car is the one that features 21 dashboard screens. The production models were represented by the e-Soul electric car and the updated SUV Niro.

Kia presented three new cars at the Geneva International Motor Show: the visionary concept of its all-electric concept car, the Imagine; the European version of the battery-powered Soul EV, called e-Soul, and the compact SUV Niro after a “facelift”.

The Imagine concept is designed to evoke emotions. The manufacturer claims that it wants to add a bit of interestingness to the segment of «boring and practical» electric cars. Kia’s prototype combines the features of a coupe-crossover, sedan and sports car, so it does not fit into any of the existing classes of cars.

The show-car attracts attention with its smooth body covered with six layers of silver paint. It is also impossible not to notice the unusual dashboard inside. The dashboard is made in the form of a blade-like screen cascade along the entire center console. The picture is displayed on all of the 21 displays so that a driver could see a solid image.

The e-Soul, an all-electric urban SUV based on the third-generation model, made its European debut in Geneva. The electric car will be sold in two modifications in Europe.

The more powerful version is equipped with a 64 kwhr battery and a 204 hp electric motor. The power reserve on a single charge is 452 km (WLTP). The modest and affordable version of the e-Soul has a 39.2 kwhr battery, a 136 hp electric motor and power reserve of up to 277 km on a single charge.

Regardless of the version, the e-Soul is equipped with a 100 kW CCS (Combined Charging System) that allows you to recharge the car from 20 to 80 percent in 42 minutes. The e-Soul sales start at the end of the current quarter in Europe.

The updated SUV Niro is another premiere at the booth of the South Korean manufacturer. Technologically the model remained unchanged, except for the look and equipment list. Another presentation is expected to be shown by Kia – the global premiere of a completely new model called Xceed.
