Mazda is preparing a successor to the CX-5, which should be called the CX-50. The fourth-gen Mazda 6’s platform will be used as the base for the new SUV.

It is not surprising that the standard version of the new car will be only rear-wheel drive.

Given the name of the platform, Large Architecture, we should expect that the new SUV will be longer than the current generation CX-5. Recall that now we are talking about a length of 4.55 m. This growth will provide the new SUV with more serious rivals, such as the Lexus NX. In order to compete with it on equal terms, more powerful engines will be put under the hood of the future novelty.
