Mazda to Release RX 9

The excitement around the new Toyota Supra and BMW Z4 does not give rest to Mazda, although what their response will be is not yet clear.

Jalopnik, citing its own sources, reports that Mazda will still release a sports car, which will be the heir to the RX-8 and will receive the RX-9 index. But it's too early for fans of Japanese rotary engines to be happy.

Since 2012, when the extravagant Mazda RX-8 was discontinued, the media has periodically published rumors about the successor model and the return to Wankel rotary motors. However, this is not exactly what fans of such engines would like.

The latest information brings rumors about the RX-9 to a new level. Jalopnik reports that the RX-9 project still exists but does not provide for the restoration of rotary engine production. Instead, the coupe seems to be equipped with a turbo petrol I6 of the same type as that of the Toyota Supra and BMW Z4. It is stated that the engine will be developed as part of the SkyActiv project, and the power will be about 350-400 hp.
