MINI Introduces Rally Countryman

X-raid Team also worked on this SUV.

MINI has showed an off-road modification of one of its most popular models, namely the updated Countryman. The modified vehicle, which incorporates “rally technologies”, was created together with X-raid, the five-time Dakar Rally winner.

The MINI Countryman Powered by X-raid has received a modified suspension and a ground clearance increased to 195 mm (+40 mm). Besides, the engineers have equipped an upgraded chassis with rally technologies, thanks to which the miniature SUV can better adapt its suspension to any type of terrain.

Thanks to the improvements, the Countryman has now a significantly increased fording depth and an angle of approach compared to the standard SUV.

Moreover, the rally version is shod in special wheels that protect tires from damage and improve the car's handling on rough terrain.

Visually, the rally MINI is distinguished by aluminum roof rails, as well as stickers on the doors and hood. There are no details about its powertrain or transmission yet. The photos show a special version based on the Cooper S Countryman.

The standard model is equipped with a two-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a power output of 192 hp and 280 Nm. In addition, the rally version can be supplemented with all-wheel drive, which further increases the off-road capabilities of the new model.

At the end of July, MINI introduced the restyled John Cooper Works Countryman. The changes affected the design, interior and equipment, but its powertrain remained the same.
