New Audi RS Models to Get Electric Motors

All Audi RS models will have hybrid and electric powertrains.

Audi Sport decided to save the owners of future RS models from the torment of choice: one sports car – one engine. This was stated in an interview by Audi Sport Sales and Marketing Director Rolf Michl. In addition, all new Audis will receive an electric motor.

Currently, the only electrified model in the line-up is the Audi RS6 Avant with a 48-volt starter generator. But, according to the top manager, Audi Sport's approach to electrification will be step-by-step and will not be limited to mild hybrids. In the next couple of years, plug-in hybrids will appear in Audi Sport’s car family.

The first plug-in hybrid will be the Audi RS4, which will enter the market in 2023 along with the E-tron GT RS.

We are well known for accurate model line planning and want to make it easy for the customer. We will have one car with one engine. It doesn't make sense to have different options. Maybe there will be different options for different concepts, whether electrified, with internal combustion engines or others, but each model will have one transmission

said Rolf Michl.
