The Land Rover Discovery has undergone through a planned mid-life upgrade.

The exterior has remained almost untouched but there are significant changes in the engine range.

Externally, the upgraded Discovery can be distinguished from its predecessor by a new radiator grille that has lost horizontal slats, modified bumpers, and headlights that are now LED by default. Another difference is ventilation inserts on the front fenders, painted in the body color. The R-Dynamic styling package is also available: it makes the SUV look sportier. It includes black and dark gray exterior accents and contrasting seat stitching.

The interior of the Discovery has undergone a deeper upgrade: there is a new steering wheel, a different gearbox and a redesigned fascia panel, which is crowned by an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro system. The system is equipped with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto and can be updated over the air. Besides, the interior has a Wi-Fi access point with the ability to connect up to 8 devices, as well as a compartment for wireless smartphone charging.

The size of the 12.3-inch digital dashboard is left the same. However, its design echoes the interface of the infotainment system. A projection screen is also available, as well as an air ionization system with a PM2. 5 particulate filter. The second-row seats have improved side support and longer pillows, as well as tablet holders built into the back of the front seats and USB ports. The vents are moved from the B-pillars to the center console for better airflow.

The engine range has lost petrol and diesel V6s: they are replaced by Ingenium units. Only the petrol turbo V4 has been preserved (300 hp / 400 Nm). The 3.0-liter diesel six-cylinder engine is available in two boost options: 249 hp / 570 Nm and 300 hp / 650 Nm. The most powerful engine is a 3.0-liter petrol V6, producing 360 hp and 500 Nm. All three 3.0-liter engines will receive MHEV add-ons in Europe.

The units still come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The list of equipment includes a standard air suspension, improved Terrain Response 2 that automatically adjusts to driving conditions, and new Wade Mode that allows you to overcome deep water obstacles.

The new Land Rover Discovery is already available in the UK, where it costs form £54,000.

Earlier, it has become known that Land Rover planes to release an affordable SUV stylized as the Defender. The new model will be released in 2022 and will be available with non-alternative front-wheel drive at the start of sales.
