Toyota's New Small SUV: AWD Hybrid Vehicle

Toyota planned to present its most compact SUV designed for the global market at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2020. However, the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has made its own adjustments to the manufacturer's plans. The new car’s debut is postponed until the fall.

At the moment, it is known that the small SUV will use the same TNGA platform as the new Yaris supermini. But, according to the manufacturer, the new car will not be the Yaris’ redesigned version. On the contrary, it will get individual features and its own dynamic design. However, the company did not share anything else about the new model.

Insiders shared details about the new car. In particular, even though they have the same wheelbase (2560 mm), the new car will be 230 mm longer that the Yaris (3940 mm). The model’s width has also increased to 1765 mm (+20 mm), and the height is 1555 mm (+85 mm).

The future SUV will get a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine (91 hp) paired with Toyota’s Direct Shift-CVT. The new car will also receive the e-Four hybrid modification, which will have the same ICE and electric motor installed on the rear axle.
