Toyota's New SUV to Challenge the Nissan Juke

Toyota will add another SUV to its lineup. This is the B-SUV model for a small segment that will challenge bestsellers like the Nissan Juke and the Renault Captur.

According to Executive Vice-President at Toyota Motor Europe, Matt Harrison, the new model will debut very soon. Its premiere is expected in the second half of this year; the beginning of sales will be held in the first quarter of 2021. At the same time, General Manager stressed that the upcoming all-terrain vehicle will be positioned as a crossover hatchback (like the Renault Sandero Stepway), and it will cost less than the C-HR.

The new Toyota SUV will share the chassis with the compact Toyota Yaris. In other words, it will be based on the GA-B platform — the most compact version of the TNGA architecture. This platform has a flexible layout: it allows you to install a MacPherson suspension in the front, and a torsion bar in the back (the latter allows production of all-wheel drive models). The length of the car will be just over 4 meters.

In addition to the architecture, the new B-SUV from Toyota will inherit a number of components, units and assemblies from the Yaris, such as its engine line (which, among other things, has a hybrid powertrain), multimedia with a 10-inch screen and interior styling.
