Nissan to Update Qashqai and X-Trail

According to Autocar with reference to its own sources in the company, Nissan may introduce a new generation of the Qashqai and the X-Trail in 2020.

The new Qashqai, according to the source, looks much like a spectacular IMQ concept (pictured below) presented by in March 2019 at the Geneva International Motor Show. Some design elements will be “borrowed” from the second-generation Juke.

It is expected that radical changes will also occur in the interior style and ergonomics of the 2021 Qashqai.

But our British colleagues do not expect “evolutionary changes” in the car's equipment. According to them, the new Qashqai will be built not on a fundamentally new platform but on an upgraded version of the current CMF.

Autocar also reports that Nissan may abandon diesel engines. Instead, buyers will be able to choose hybrid, petrol-electric powertrains.

In particular, the SUV can get the proprietary ePower system, in which a petrol engine is used only as a generator for recharging batteries.

In Japan, this system is used for about 70% of Nissan Notes sold.
