The main feature of the ride was that the route had a wide variety of road types, including complex interchanges and intersections, as well as country roads with undeveloped infrastructure.

HumanDrive is a joint project organized with the support of the UK transport department, Innovate UK and 9 other different organizations.

The HumanDrive project allowed us to develop an autonomous vehicle, which can solve problems that are unique to this part of the world in the UK, such as complex traffic circles and fast country roads without road markings or curbs

comments Bob Bateman, Manager, Nissan Europe.

The second part of the project was devoted to AI technologies and how they can improve the convenience and comfort of passengers in driverless cars.

Safely completing the longest driverless journey in the UK is an incredible achievement for Nissan and HumanDrive, as well as a huge step towards bringing self-driving cars to the streets of the conutry

adds Nadim Zahavi, Spokesman, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

The project has become a vivid example of cooperation between business and government organizations to create a modern transport infrastructure, to improve road safety and to reduce harmful emissions. Nissan’s production vehicles already use the ProPILOT system, which helps a driver in traffic and is essentially the initial stage of the automated driving system.
