According to Reuters, the Finnish company earns $1.4 billion annually on its patents. In the case of Mercedes-Benz, Nokia plans to earn more and receive a percentage of each car sold that has 4G technology on board.

According to the court's decision, Nokia has the right to demand to ban the sale of Mercedes cars in the brand's domestic market – in Germany. Whether Nokia will take this step is still unclear. To implement this scenario, the latter needs to pay a deposit of $8.3 billion.

This amount will become compensation if the court of appeal overturns the decision of the court of first instance. Moreover, Daimler has already said that it will appeal the decision. At the same time, the conglomerate expects that the technology giant will not require the implementation of such a strict punishment. This would be a major blow for Daimler, since Germany is the largest car market in Europe. In contrast, Nokia hopes for common sense and considers their demands fully justified and not overstated. We will monitor further developments.
