Opel has unveiled a new generation of the Insignia at the Brussels International Motor Show.

Entry-level models are available with a 1.4-liter 145-hp petrol engine and a 1.5-liter 122-hp turbo diesel one. These three-cylinder units are 50 kg lighter than previously used ones and have already found their application in the new Astra.

A 2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine, which will appear later, and two 2-liter petrol engines with 200 hp and 230 hp (for the GSi) will also be available. A petrol V4 has received a system for deactivating a pair of cylinders at low loads.

As befits the flagship model, the Opel Insignia offers a wide range of basic and optional equipment for safety and comfort. In particular, the car has received a new rear-view camera, a road control system when driving in reverse, a preventive safety system with emergency braking and pedestrian recognition, a lane keeping system, a blind spot monitoring system, a parking assistant, ACC and many others.
