Otokar to Launch Bus Production Under the Iveco Brand

Iveco Bus has signed an agreement with Turkey-based Otokar Otomotiv to produce vehicles under its own Italian brand.

This is an amazing step forward in the bus production. Iveco Bus, an Italian company, has signed an agreement with Otokar Otomotiv, a Turkish bus manufacturer, to produce vehicles under its own brand at Otokar’s facilities in Sakarya, Turkey. The agreement has been concluded because of Iveco Bus’s intention to expand production capabilities besides conducting all regular operations at its existing enterprises.

Otokar’s factory in Sakarya will start producing Iveco Bus’ vehicles in 2021. The partnership will cover all existing models in the Iveco Bus line-up for international distribution, as well as the production of models specifically designed for the markets of Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

The company’s buses will be powered by FPT Industrial engines from the CNH Industrial brand. Iveco Bus will continue its regular work on current and future generations of models, including design and production, at the company’s existing facilities.

Through this collaboration, we will be able to expand our production capabilities to respond to current and future market demand, to support our continued growth, and to enable us to work together on future line-up expansion. Besides, this partnership will benefit from future powertrain technologies being developed at FPT Industrial

CNH Industrial CEO Sylvain Blaise said.

In his speech at the press conference, Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç noted that the company’s factory could work more efficiently and effectively thanks to this agreement. According to him, Otokar will continue to sell its buses worldwide. He hinted at long-term cooperation, and this agreement is the first step to it.

The Sakarya factory employs 2,000 employees. Otokar is part of the Koç Group, which accounts for 8% of Turkey's GDP, while exports account for 10% of Turkey's total exports.
