Pininfarina Battista to Be Always Connected to Internet

The manufacturer calls this a unique offer in the segment.

Automobili Pininfarina, owned by Mahindra Group, will use the Deutsche Telekom equipment for the Battista electric hypercar. This is a modem with a built-in SIM card and activated roaming, which will allow the car to remain connected to the Internet in more than 50 countries.

According to the manufacturer, all the benefits of the OTA (Over-the-Air) technology will be available for the Pininfarina Battista with a new telecommunications module. The hypercar will be able to update 26 electronic control units that manage infotainment, powertrain and assistant systems in real time. The algorithm developed by Deutsche Telekom will provide the best Internet connection. The service will operate in more than 50 countries — this is a unique offer for the segment.

In addition to keeping the software up-to-date, the built-in modem will also allow the owner of the Battista to remotely lock and unlock the car doors using the proprietary app, as well as view data on the battery level and location. Plus, the coupe features Smart Diagnostics. It detects possible problems (those that cannot be fixed by a simple software update) and notifies the mobile engineering team about them.

The Pininfarina Battista, introduced in the summer of 2019, is powered by four electric motors (1,900 hp / 2,300 Nm). It takes 1.9 seconds for the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h. Its top speed is more than 350 km/h. A 120-kWh battery provides a 450-km all-electric range (WLTP). The power electronics and control software are developed by Croatian Rimac.
