The official presentation of the electric SUV should take place within the next few months, but the name and engine range of the production BMW iNext has already been declassified. According to BMW Blog with reference to its own sources in the company, the full-size electric SUV will be named iX. Its production will start in Dingolfing in the summer of 2021. It is expected that the dimensions of the new vehicle will be approximately something between the X3 and the X5. However, its interior will be no less spacious than that of the latter model. BMW will offer three powertrain options for the iX, which will differ markedly in power and all-electric range.

The standard electric SUV will get a 308-hp powertrain; the version on the step above will develop about 522 hp; the top-end modification — about 610 hp. The all-electric range of the new model is still a mystery — we only know that one of the versions will travel at least 600 km on a single charge. For example, the electric BMW iX3 with a 74-kWh battery has a 460-km range. The iX may be the first BMW model with L3 Autonomy.
