Stellantis: FCA and PSA’s New Alliance

The newly formed partners have decided on the name of the new alliance.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA announced their merger last winter. Although the process is not yet complete, the name has already been chosen – Stellantis. Publicis Groupe participated in the development of the new brand. It is based on the Latin «Stello», meaning star. The brand logo is not ready yet, it will be shown later.

Despite the fact that the newly formed alliance has a new name, it will not be represented on the cars. In addition, it will not affect the existing names of the conglomerates themselves and the brands that are part of them. The new «star» name is planned to be used only in corporate documentation and media projects.

Both companies will split their participation in Stellantis 50-50. The alliance will be led by the current PSA CEO Carlos Tavares. The position of Chairman will go to John Elkan from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The main office will be located in the Netherlands.

It includes 14 car brands such as Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, Vauxhall, DS, Fiat, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. The first joint models will not appear until 2023. And the conglomerates will coordinate the remaining formalities until the first quarter of 2021.
