The Forester Sport is equipped with the same engine that drives the second-generation Levorg. This is a 1.8-liter opposite turbo engine with direct fuel injection. It produces 177 hp and 300 Nm and comes with a Lineartronic CVT.

Subaru claims that the performance of such a Forester is higher than that of a SUV with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated unit. Besides, the new engine is more fuel efficient. In addition to the new turbo engine, the Forester Sport has received a modified suspension, a new damper and coil springs to achieve a more sporty driving experience, while maintaining off-road qualities.

This Forester is available with a black roof and grille, 18-inch aluminum wheels in black metallic color and an additional exhaust pipe. The interior has suede seats, a special “sports” finish and aluminum pedal pads. The Subaru Forester Sport costs in ¥3,289,000 in Japan. For comparison, the standard model is available for ¥2,915,000.

Last week, Subaru of America introduced an extreme version of the WRX STI for Gymkhana. The production sedan received a new aerodynamic body kit, a modified suspension and a 2.5-liter supercharged Subaru Boxer engine with an increased power output.
