The Subaru XV to Be Made More Powerful

After the planned upgrade, the Subaru Crosstrek will get a 2.5-liter 180-hp engine.

The second-generation Subaru Crosstrek (also known as the Subaru XV in Europe) debuted at the Geneva International Motor Show and New York International Auto Show 3 years ago.

When changing the generation, a power output of the 2.0-liter V4 was increased from 150 hp to 155 hp. The engine came with a 6-speed manual transmission or an CVT. According to Automotive News, the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will get a 2.5-liter engine. This was announced by Subaru America CEO Tom Doll at the 2020 NADA Live in Las Vegas during the car dealers convention.

In the US, the more powerful engine will be available in top-end configurations. Whether such a unit will appear in the European Subaru XV is not yet known. Presumably, this will be the motor used in models such as the Forester, Legacy and Outback. These models have a naturally aspirated engine that produces 185 hp and 239 Nm. The American version of the Subaru XV with a 2.5-liter engine is expected to be released by the end of this year.
