Subaru’s First Electric Vehicle: Details

Subaru is going to release its first electric Vehicle, namely the futuristic Evoltis SUV.

Subaru is not the first manufacturer that comes to mind when we speak about electric vehicles. However, everything will change very soon. The Japanese manufacturer is preparing for serious competition in this segment with the new Subaru Evoltis.

Interestingly, the same name was recently given to the Subaru crossover, which is known globally as the Subaru Ascent. However, the name of the EV may still change. The production model will be based on the concept that was shown earlier. The design of the prototype was too futuristic, but a very similar car is expected to go into production.

Since design of production cars often differs from what a concept shows, it is difficult to imagine exactly what the new Subaru EV will be. Judging by the image, the new model will get modern design, which is successfully emphasized by the contrasting roof line. Instead of side mirrors, the concept had cameras. The road version will not feature them. The rear end looks monolithic — the roof smoothly passes into the tailgate.

The new Subaru Evoltis will be built on the Toyota e-TNGA platform that supports rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and batteries with a capacity of 50-100 kWh. This will allow the Subaru crossover to offer a range of 300-600 km, depending on the modification. Rumor has it that the standard Evoltis will be equipped with two electric motors with a total power output of 215 hp and the top-end modification will produce 402 hp.

It did not come to interior renderings, but it is expected to have an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and an abundance of touchscreen tablets.

The official premiere of the Subaru Evoltis has not been announced yet. Presumably, the Japanese brand will show its first EV in 2021.
