Tesla Model Y Turned Out to Be Most Energy Efficient in Segment

Customers will receive their Tesla Model Ys in March 2020.

The sales have started with more expensive vehicles that have a drive range of more than 450 km. However, it has turned out that their range is much longer.

Before the start of sales, Tesla updated data on a drive range of the Model Y. According to the manufacturer's website, expensive versions have a 500-km all-electric range.

As you know, the EPA and WLTP systems differ significantly. The former is considered more close to real operating conditions. The figures published on the Tesla website according to EPA show an impressive 315-mile (507-km) all-electric range.

This range is claimed for the AWD Tesla Model Y Long Range and Tesla Model Y Performance with a 75-kWh battery. Information about the range of the standard model is not yet available, as well as the possibility to order it.

InsideEV's notes that the ratio of battery capacity to driving distance puts the Tesla Model Y in the leaders of the segment in terms of energy efficiency. The SUV consumes 15.4 kWh per 100 km, which is less than the Jaguar I-Pace, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Audi E-Tron.
