The BMW X6 M Has a Worthy Competitor

Mercedes-AMG has presented the GLE 63 S Coupe with a power output of more than 600 hp.

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe is equipped with a hybrid powertrain, in which a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine borrowed from a standard SUV is supplemented with a 48-volt EQ Boost motor.

A power output is 612 hp and 850 Nm. Additional 21 hp and 250 Nm are provided by the EQ Boost. There is a nine-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive system with electronic control that locks the rear differential. The «mild hybrid» accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 280 km/h.

The standard equipment includes an air suspension with adaptive damping and active roll stabilization. Depending on the vehicle speed and driving mode, the system can automatically adjust the ground clearance.

The front end of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe is most easily identified by a Panamericana AMG radiator grille with vertical ribs and a new bumper with enlarged air intakes and a thin chrome plated strip. The rear end features two oval exhaust pipes. The model has got black 22-inch wheels with V-shaped spokes, standard brakes with 380-mm front and 355-mm rear discs. Ceramic brake calipers are available for an additional fee.

The interior has a revised center console, sports steering wheel, Nappa leather seats and carbon fiber decor. A new MBUX infotainment system has acquired some «racing» features. The display now shows lateral acceleration, lap time, torque, and oil temperature in the engine and gearbox.

A price tag of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe and its release date are not announced at the moment.
