The Compact BMW X2 Becomes a Plug-In Hybrid

BMW has expanded its line-up of charging hybrids by adding the new X2 xDrive25e.

The SUV has received a powertrain that consists of a 1.5-liter 125-hp three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 95-hp electric motor. The power of the first unit is transmitted to the front wheels, the power of the second one – to the rear wheels. The total output is 220 hp and 385 Nm.

A 0-100 km/h time is 6.8 seconds and a top maximum speed is limited at 195 km/h. In electric mode, a maximum speed reaches 135 km/h. The model can travel up to 57 km on electric charge only. This power reserve is provided by a 10-kWh Li-ion battery pack. It takes about 5 hours to fully charge the battery from a household outlet.

As for the exterior, the hybrid BMW X2 differs in the design of a front panel, as well as a bumper, which does not have fog lights. LED headlights come even with the standard configuration. The car is also equipped with 17-inch lightweight wheels which reduced its ground clearance by 10 mm, thereby improving its aerodynamics.
