The Hyundai Ioniq EV Has Become a Separate Brand

Ioniq, Hyundai's new EV sub-brand, has already announced the release of three models.

The name of the new EV brand is Ioniq. It was already used by Hyundai for a number of models and hybrids. In all likelihood, they will not be included in the new brand’s line-up and will all be renamed in the future. A similar transformation was experienced by the premium brand Genesis. Initially, this name was also used for a separate model.

All three electric cars will be built on the specially developed Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). It is claimed that the new architecture will provide an impressive drive range, high-speed battery charging and «smart living space» in the cabin.
