The Kit Car Manufacturer Reveals a Supercar with a Humongous 9.5-Liter V12 Engine

The car is called the Factory Five F9R. It has a carbon-fiber body, a weight of 1090 kg and a 750-hp engine. Production starts at the end of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021.

Kit cars triple the pleasure of car fans: you can get a car, which is better than expensive supercars in terms of characteristics, for a good price, and assemble it yourself.

The last point is not considered as an advantage by all car enthusiasts because we are used to the fact that the accessories and equipment we bought can already be used. However, the fact that you can get a car just for $25.000 (the Factory Five GTM), which will leave behind the Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari 599 Fiorano or Z06 Corvette, can convince even «non-believers».

The Factory Five Racing GTM supercar uses the Chevrolet C5 Corvette components, as well as the Porsche 911 transmission or 5-speed Mendeola transmission. The cost of the kit is from $25.000. However, the car has a somewhat outdated design and archaic technologies, so F.F. R. is preparing a replacement for it.

The new supercar is called the Factory Five F9R. It has a fully carbon-fiber body that helps keep the weight within one ton, a chassis of the company’s own design, and a front-engine drive layout with a V12 unit with a capacity of 9.5 liters, which produces 750 hp and 959 Nm.

Apart from the huge V12, the new Factory Five supercar can be powered by more modest engines – the so-called «small blocks» from Ford or LS series engines from General Motors.

Field tests of the Factory Five F9R begin next spring. Production of the car starts by the end of 2020 or early 2021. A pricelist is not yet revealed but it can be assumed that the new F.F.R supercar will have the same reasonable price tag as the previous one.
