The Mazda CX-30 Continues to Show Excellent Results in Safety Tests

Along with five other Mazda models, the Mazda CX-30 SUV was tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) that gave the car high scores.

The six cars tested were the Mazda 3, Mazda 6, Mazda CX-9, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-3 and Mazda CX-30 (American versions) – all of them rated Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick +.

The IIHS evaluates safety based on various tests, including head-on collisions with little overlap on the driver's side, passenger's side, side impact, roof strength test, and headrest and seat test with simulated rear impact. Besides, characteristics of headlights and prevention of a head-on collision are evaluated using automatic braking and direct collision warning systems.

In addition to Top Safety Pick, the Mazda CX-30 has a series of impressive global safety rating results. The CX-30 SUV received a maximum five-star from both Euro NCAP and Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

The two organizations gave the model exceptional 99 % for adult passenger protection, making the Mazda CX-30 the first car ever to achieve such a near-perfect result. The CX-30 also earned the maximum number of points in a full-width front collision and in an angle collision.

According to the first quarter of 2020, Mazda is the manufacturer that received the most Top Safety Pick + awards. This fact proves that Mazda’s safety policy is moving in the right direction. It is based on the Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture with a rigid, shock-absorbing and lightweight structure; a wide range of advanced I-Activsense safety technologies that help drivers and reduce the likelihood of accidents; and on high standards of pedestrian protection.

It is also worth noting the high results of the Mazda CX-30 in the child protection category, where the model was able to score 86%. The pedestrian safety score is 80%, and the SUV scored 77% in Safety Assist. This is an assessment of security systems, in this case, of I-Activsense. The Mazda CX-30's active and passive safety indicators are traditionally complemented by its high performance and steering response.
