A 12,000-Euro Reincarnation of the BMW Isetta

In 2018, Micro-Mobility, a Swiss company, introduced a concept of a tiny EV in the style of the BMW Isetta.

The version 2.0 is as close as possible to a production car but still costs a fantastic amount of money. Micro-Mobility is ready to present a pre-production version of the Microlino, a miniature EV, and the Microletta, a concept electric scooter, at the Geneva International Motor Show.

As it became known just at the time of writing this article, the organizers of the GIMS canceled the international exhibition due to the coronavirus. Therefore, the premiere of the cute bubble city-car from Micro-Mobility is postponed indefinitely. However, we already know enough about this EV. And the main reason for its debut in Switzerland was information about its production design.

The designers report that they have modified the Microlino’s body and interior, improving visibility for the driver and providing more comfort in the cabin. At the same time, there is not a single image from the inside. The Microlino 2.0 is also promised to have a «powerful and efficient electric motor». There is no specifics again, but the first version of the car had an electric motor with a power output of 15 hp and 74 Nm. With it, the Microlino could reach a top speed of 90 km/h and accelerate from 0-50 km/h in 5 seconds. The electric motor was powered by a 8-kWh or 14.4-kWh lithium-ion battery. In the first case, an all-electric range was 125 km, and in the second case, it was 200 km.

Despite all the changes, Micro-Mobility has announced prices for its electric vehicle, the standard version of which will cost about €12,000. Not a very competitive price, given that Europe already has affordable electric cars of the supermini class, and soon there will be even more. The last of the newcomers are the Citroen Ami, which costs €6,000, or €20 per month on the conditions of a long-term lease.

Another new vehicle from Micro-Mobility is the Microletta, a three-wheeled electric scooter. It has the status of a concept, but it also has an estimated cost of €4,900. For this money, a buyer will be able to move at a speed of up to 80 km/h for a distance of about 150 km.
