The Youngest SUV in Mercedes’ Family Receives a 421-HP Engine

On the eve of the GIMS, Mercedes has declassified the new version of the brand's youngest SUV in the line-up – the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45.

The new Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 is equipped with a 2.0-liter 387-hp four-cylinder engine. The GLA 45 S will produce 421 hp. The unit comes with an 8-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox. Also, the new models have got the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ system.

It is interesting that the drivetrain can distribute the thrust between the rear wheels. A 0-100 km/h time of the GLA 45 is 4.4 seconds. The S-version is 0.1 seconds faster. A top speed of the SUVs is limited at 250 km/h and 270 km/h, respectively. For comparison, the 306-hp GLA 35 with a maximum speed of 250 km/h accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.

Besides, the new vehicle has got powerful brakes, a reinforced body and an adaptive suspension with three operating modes. According to the designers, the new Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 is more comfortable, handles rolls better and passes the corners more confidently in comparison with the previous generation model. You can choose between 7 driving modes, including ‘Sport'. Customers will be able to get 21-inch wheels, the AMG Track Pace system, the «night» and aerodynamic packages at an additional cost.
